Title: Ultimate Short Shifter
Article: You will need the following to do this mod:

- 14mm & 12mm socket/ratchet

- 3/8 (& 3/16 for guide hole - optional) drill bit and Drill

- Optional but best, Vice, to hold lever in place while drilling

- Measuring tap or ruler

- 'C' clip (Optional)

- About 1.5 hours time or if you supply an extra unit you can save a lot of time by just swapping the modded piece in and this will also not leave you without transportation.

Unclip air filter housing and lossen the clap on the breather hose connected to the Throttle Body. Remove and set aside.
(Optional) Remove cap from distributor and set aside. No need to remove plug wires.
Back off the nut the secures the clutch cable in place, enough that when you push the cable towards the front of the car, it will disengage from the clutch actuator lever. Pull cable back and remove from its holder.
There are 2 cables that activate your gear selection, one with a small eye and one with a larger eye. Remove the pin that holds these in place. Remove the upper washer and then slide the eye off the stud. Dont lose these as you will need them for reinstall.
You can now remove the actuator unit from the transmission. Using 14mm socket, remove the 4 bolts. You may need to give it a light tab to loosen the unit and then remove it. There is a paper gasket so be careful not to ruin it. You could get a new one or make one yourself from the appropriate gasket material if so needed.
Next, remove the smaller lever. T do this, you need to remove the C clip from the stud. Use a small screwdriver to place between the stud and c-clip, then carefully twist. You may want to have a new clip ready just in case this one gets ruined. Once the c-clip is removed, the pin can be pushed though, allowing you to remove this lever.
Next, using the 12mm sock or wrench, remove both studs from the levers.
Measure back a ½ from the center of each square hole and mark it using a pencil, scribe or whatever you want to use. Just make sure it is centered. Now secure lever in a vice (one at a time of course) and drill a guide hole first then use the 3/8 drill bit and drill out the guide holes. If you do not have a vice or drill press, you can use vice grips to hole the piece secure but be careful, as holding it by hand will not make the piece stable and the drill bit could catch at twist the piece out of your hand possibly causing injury.
Reinstall the studs and then the small lever. When installing the studs you will notice they have a square to match up to the squares on the levers. I just tightened them down and it was fine, just try to keep it straight while tightening. You could actually use a Dremel and grind/cut the squares off.
